Job summary

Chip Motors is seeking an experienced Web Engineer to own chipmotors.com end to end, including the marketing site, configurator, reservation flow, and customer portal. You will build with React, TypeScript, Next.js, and Go services, and collaborate with social, marketing and design to ship fast.

You will own the entire path from browser to API to database, ensure performance and reliability, and set technical direction. This is a hands-on, high-impact role open to remote US candidates.

Qualifications

• Seven or more years building production web applications with ownership of a product used daily.
• Deep React and TypeScript expertise, production Next.js App Router.
• Production Go experience with services, APIs, and PostgreSQL.
• Own the full path Browser to API to database, including failure modes.
• Performance as a discipline; treat page weight and Core Web Vitals as features.
• Experience with payments or auth in production (Stripe, sessions, tokens).
• Comfort as the sole engineer initially; may bring contract help later.
• Judgment about what not to build and why a feature is worth implementing.
• Documentation of decisions, tradeoffs, and rationale.
• Based in Austin, Miami, Los Angeles, or remote in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Own chipmotors.com end to end: marketing site, configurator, reservation flow, and customer portal.
• Ship the configurator and align with product decisions before it exists.
• Own the reservation flow, checkout, payments, and account portal interactions.
• Build and maintain the Go backend: APIs, data models, integrations, background jobs.
• Own authentication and sessions; ensure security and reliability.
• Keep the site fast: optimize page weight and Core Web Vitals.
• Own reliability: deployments, staging, rollbacks, monitoring.
• Set the technical direction: what to build, buy, delete, and why.
• Make it safe to move fast with tests and guardrails.
• Turn rough ideas into live features aligned with marketing timelines.
