About the Role
We design, build, and support two generations of in-vehicle infotainment and digital cockpit platforms, evolving our current production platform while creating its successor, both aligned with the latest best practices. As a Staff Software Architect, you are a senior individual contributor who sets direction for core operating-environment and system services, working closely with other platform and vehicle teams.
This is a high-scope staff-level role: you lead architecture and cross-team technical decisions, influence managers and suppliers, and dive into design reviews, hard bugs, and prototypes when needed. You are not a people manager, but you are expected to be a visible technical leader across teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and evolve architecture for key system-level software and services in the infotainment stack, with clear interfaces and long-term platform health in mind.
- Lead by example as a "player-architect": shape requirements, drive designs, review code, and contribute to high-impact implementations.
- Coordinate technical decisions and roadmaps across internal teams and suppliers; ensure designs align with safety, performance, and program goals.
- Work with hardware and release teams on new central compute platforms and software releases; lead resolution of complex system-level issues in benches and vehicles.
- Influence the organization through effective use of AI, agents, and agent skills in development and operations.
- Use logs, crashes, and dashboards to drive priorities and measure improvement; ensure the system is observable in development and in fleet.
- Mentor engineers across teams (including supplier teams) and act as a senior escalation point for issues that cross OS, services, and hardware.
- Collaborate with mechatronics and vehicle integration teams wherever the infotainment stack touches vehicle functions (propulsion, chassis, body, thermal, etc.).
Qualifications
Minimum
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years in automotive or embedded software, with substantial system-level or platform work (infotainment/IVI, digital cockpit, OS/platform).
- Strong modern C++ for embedded or real-time systems; Python for tooling/automation/test is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with at least one in-vehicle platform (Android-based, Linux-based, or RTOS), including hardware and vehicle network integration.
- Solid understanding of vehicle integration (for example, CAN or Automotive Ethernet, diagnostics, ECU interaction).
- 2+ years leading teams as a tech lead (or equivalent): driving planning, design, and delivery through others, including suppliers.
- Proven ability to debug and drive resolution of cross-layer issues using logs, crash data, and metrics.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to influence across teams and organizations.
Nice to Have
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- End-to-end experience on infotainment or digital cockpit programs from bring-up through launch.
- Experience with mechatronics, ADAS/HMI interfaces, or connectivity/media stacks (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular, projection).
- Exposure to OTA, automotive cybersecurity, or broader software-defined vehicle architectures.
- Prior impact at staff+ scope (or equivalent) across multiple teams or suppliers.
