Job summary

Signify Health is partnering with CVS Health to build enterprise software that powers clinician experiences and performance management. A Staff Software Engineer will architect and deliver distributed systems, mentor teams, and set technical direction across the project scope.

You will work across frontend, backend, and data layers using modern languages and tools, with travel as needed and a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability of large-scale systems.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in software engineering: problem solving, data structures, algorithms, patterns, concurrency.
• Experience as a polyglot software engineer across multiple languages.
• 6+ months of experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot).
• Experience with full-stack development to ship and operate large-scale systems.
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of RDBMS (SQL Server/PostgreSQL).
• Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Experience with modern front-end tech (React, TypeScript, HTML/CSS, JavaScript) and full-stack patterns.
• Cloud experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Excellent communication and ability to travel quarterly.

A Brief Overview

The Staff Software Engineer is a hands-on technical leader who designs and delivers enterprise‑grade software powering clinician‑facing experiences and clinician performance management. In this role you will architect and build highly distributed, large‑scale systems, set technical direction across the team, and raise the engineering bar through mentorship and cross‑functional collaboration.

• Design, build, and maintain business‑critical, enterprise‑grade systems using modern technology and techniques.

Minimum Requirements

• Strong foundation in software engineering: problem solving, data structures, algorithms, patterns, concurrency.
• Experience as a polyglot software engineer. Experience with more than one of: C++, C#, Java, Golang, Javascript, Typescript, Python, or similar.
• 6+ months of experience using AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude) to enhance productivity and code quality.
• Experience using full‑stack development to ship and operate large‑scale systems.
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of RDBMS such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
• Deep experience designing, building, and operating large‑scale distributed systems end‑to‑end in production environments.
• Experience with modern front‑end technologies (e.g., React, TypeScript, HTML/CSS/JavaScript) and full‑stack development patterns.
• Strong experience with cloud vendors: Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Clear and effective communication.
• Ability to travel quarterly or as needed.
• 7-10 years of work experience.
• Adept at problem solving and decision making.
• Adept at collaboration and teamwork.
• Adept at growth mindset (agility and developing yourself and others).
• Adept at execution and delivery (planning, delivering, and supporting).
• Adept at business intelligence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with asynchronous, event‑based architectures.
• Experience with the following technologies: Kafka, REST APIs, contract‑first API development, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform.
• Experience with an Application and Performance Monitoring platform (e.g., New Relic).
• Experience establishing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with agile methodologies.

Education

Bachelor's degree preferred / specialized training / relevant professional qualification.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$106,605.00 - $260,590.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short‑term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
