Job summary

Verily Health in Boston is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to independently guide architectural direction and scale core software systems across the Verily Me ecosystem. You will own end-to-end design, delivery, and testing for highly scalable, compliant platforms that connect users with health solutions.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience delivering reliable, scalable software in production.
  • Experience with cloud technologies and modern CI/CD tooling, including Kubernetes, ArgoCD and GitHub Actions.
  • Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and system design; excellent debugging and analytical skills.
  • Clear communication for deriving requirements, scoping problems, and documenting system designs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end design, delivery, and testing of large-scale, compliant software systems aligned with strategic goals.
  • Translate undefined problem spaces into concrete technical plans, timelines, and execution paths.

You will collaborate cross-functionally to drive project success and mentor fellow engineers to cultivate a culture of engineering excellence.# ****Responsibilities***** Lead the end-to-end design, delivery, and testing of large-scale, compliant software systems that align directly with Verily's high-impact strategic goals.* Take highly undefined problem spaces and independently translate them into structured software plans, predictable timelines, and concrete technical execution for the team.* Drive systemic improvements in tooling, documentation, and development workflows to resolve root-cause defects and optimize overall team productivity.* Empower the engineering organization by guiding architectural decisions, leading technical discussions, and mentoring junior engineers to scale their capabilities.* Partner across engineering, product, and cross-functional teams to define robust requirements, clear critical roadblocks, and shape the platform's strategic direction.# ****Qualifications****Minimum Qualifications* BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience in software engineering.* 8+ years experience developing and maintaining reliable, scalable, and secure products and services in production in Go, Python, C++, or similar programming languages.* Prior experience with cloud technologies: Google Cloud Platform/Amazon Web Services/Azure or other cloud providers, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Backstage, or related tools.* Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and system design with strong analytical and debugging skills.* Strong communication skills in scenarios like deriving requirements from customers, articulating the scope of a problem, or documenting a proposed system design.Preferred Qualifications* Deep knowledge of Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes.* Experience with microservices, software delivery platforms, DevSecOps, continuous integration, and release management processes.* 2+ years experience working in a centralized developer platform team.* Passionate about developer experience with a high empathy for users.***This role is eligible for Verily-sponsored immigration support.***The US base salary range for this full-time position is $184,500 - 277,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
