Job summary

Google Mountain View is hiring Staff Software Engineer, Data and Model Insights and Infrastructure. You will own the architecture of complex ML pipelines and lead cross-functional initiatives impacting Google’s AI infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
• 5 years of experience with one or more: Speech/Audio, reinforcement learning, ML infrastructure, or related ML field.
• 5 years of experience with ML design and ML infrastructure (deployment, evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
• Experience integrating generative AI tools or LLM interfaces into workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and architecture of highly complex ML pipelines and distributed systems, ensuring scalability and reliability.
• Drive adoption of next-generation AI/ML techniques to solve high-impact business problems and move from prototyping to production.
• Set the gold standard for code quality, testing, and deployment within the team; perform deep-dive architectural reviews and optimize performance.
• Mentor executive and mid-level engineers, promoting technical growth and representing the team in cross-functional discussions.
• Partner with researchers to operationalize models and align roadmaps with user needs.

• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.


• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

We work on a range of unique problems focused on research topics that maximize scientific and real-world impact, aiming to push the state-of-the-art in AI and share findings with the broader research community. We also collaborate with product teams to bring innovations to real-world impact that benefits our customers.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $207000 - $300000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits
