Google LLC is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for Google Cloud Compute (GCE) Performance to drive VM performance initiatives and architectural direction for foundational VM offerings. You will coordinate across hardware, kernel, virtualization, and product teams to deliver scalable solutions.

The role requires extensive experience in large-scale infrastructure, OS kernels or virtualization stacks, and technical leadership across multi-year initiatives.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience programming in C++.
• 5 years building large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or compute/storage/hardware domains.
• Experience with CPU/memory architectures and modern server hardware performance characteristics.
• Experience as an architect or technical lead for multi-year infrastructure initiatives.
• Experience in OS kernels, hypervisors/ virtualization stacks, high-performance networking drivers, or storage stacks.

Responsabilidades

• Define the roadmap for GCE’s next-generation VM offerings with cross-functional teams.
• Design, architect, and develop scalable solutions to optimize VM performance and hardware efficiency.
• Lead multi-functional initiatives across hardware, kernel, virtualization, and product teams for performance.
• Act as trusted technical advisor to critical customers, analyzing and optimizing massive workloads.
• Mentor engineers, conduct design reviews, and establish engineering best practices for performance analysis.
