Jobs in JS is seeking a staff-level full-stack leader to set the technical direction for our biller-workflow platform across practice-management and revenue-cycle products. You will drive a multi-team rebuild of high-traffic workflows while keeping production systems reliable.

You’ll champion TypeScript, React, Python (FastAPI) and PostgreSQL, design scalable APIs, and embed AI to improve operations with claim submission and error reasoning in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Define frontend and backend architecture, shared components, API contracts, and data-layer patterns.
• Lead multi-month, multi-team platform rebuilds and migrations with incremental migrations.
• Build data-dense, high-performance interfaces for complex tables and timelines.
• Design performant APIs and SQL patterns for filtering, grouping, pagination on large datasets.
• Improve React rendering, query performance, and pipeline health in production.
• Embed AI into production workflows to reduce operational friction and improve accuracy.

The role and why it matters

You will set the technical direction for the biller-workflow platform used across the company's practice-management and revenue-cycle products. This is a staff-level, full-stack role with an approximately 60/40 backend-to-frontend split. You will lead a generational rebuild of high-traffic workflows for claims, appointments, payments, posting, and other billing operations while keeping mature production systems reliable for enterprise customers.

What you’ll do

• Define frontend and backend architecture, shared component conventions, API contracts, data-layer patterns, and observability practices across multiple engineering teams.
• Lead multi-month, multi-team platform rebuilds and migrations, shipping incremental improvements without breaking existing users.
• Build data-dense, high-performance interfaces for complex tables, virtualized rendering, keyboard-driven workflows, bulk actions, and activity timelines.
• Design performant APIs and PostgreSQL query patterns for filtering, grouping, pagination, and bulk operations over large datasets.
• Diagnose and improve React rendering performance, query performance, replica-lag handling, and claim-submission pipeline health.
• Embed AI into production workflows where it removes meaningful operational friction, including claim comparison, submission-error reasoning, and rule suggestions.
• Drive architecture reviews, deep code reviews, technical standards, and mentorship that raise the engineering bar across teams.
• Work closely with clinicians, billing operators, product, and design partners through rapid feedback loops.

What we’re looking for

• 8 or more years of experience building large-scale full-stack applications, with prior senior or staff-level technical leadership.
• Deep expertise in TypeScript, React, Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL.
• Direct experience working with billing or claims data, such as EOBs, denial codes, appointments, payments, posting, or related enterprise workflows.
• A record of leading large, multi-team platform rebuilds or migrations and delivering them incrementally in production.
• Org-wide frontend architecture leadership, including adoption of a design system, shared component library, or common frontend platform across a large engineering organization.
• Strong API and data-layer design skills for complex filtering, grouping, pagination, and large-scale query performance.
• Ability to align engineering leadership and multiple teams around a shared technical direction through clear written and verbal communication.
• A computer science degree or equivalent engineering background.
• Comfort operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with daily deployments and high ownership.

Bonus points

• Healthcare billing, revenue-cycle management, insurance, fintech, or another regulated-industry SaaS background.
• Experience shipping LLM-powered features into production workflows.
• Experience with EDI X12 or other healthcare-data standards.

Compensation, location, and benefits

• $210K-$275K base salary, with flexibility for exceptional candidates.
• Competitive equity, with the expected grant described by the hiring team as approximately $500K-$900K over four years.
• Full-time hybrid work from Mountain View, San Francisco, Los Angeles, or New York City.
• Existing visa transfers, including eligible OPT and H-1B transfers, may be supported.
