Staff Software Engineer (Asset Management)

Staff Software Engineers are expected to lead through technical contribution. You will operate as a trusted advisor for our key technologies, platforms and capability domains, creating clear and concise communications, code samples, blog posts and other material to share knowledge both inside and outside the organization. You will specialize in a particular subject area, but your input and impact will be sought and expected throughout the organization.

The Staff Software Engineer will be a part of the Asset Management organization within the Cloud Operations Resilience Engineering (CORE) line of business. In this role, you will define, architect, and drive the implementation of best practices for Asset Management, Security, and Compliance while leading various complex technical initiatives to include shaping scalable solutions. Additionally, you will mentor and provide technical direction to engineering teams across the organization to drive Operational Excellence and propel our Asset Transformation journey.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• At least 7 years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture
• At least 7 years of experience in Cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering and solution architecture
• 10+ years of professional experience coding in commonly used languages like Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Swift, etc.
• 8+ years of professional experience in the full lifecycle of system development, from conception through architecture, implementation, testing, deployment and production support.
• 8+ years of experience with Networking (BGP, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN, Cloud Networking and Data Center Networking)

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $269,100 - $307,200 for Distinguished Engineer

Plano, TX: $244,700 - $279,200 for Distinguished Engineer

Richmond, VA: $244,700 - $279,200 for Distinguished Engineer

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
