Job summary

Google LLC in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a seasoned Software Engineer with 8+ years of experience in software development and 5+ years in ML leadership to join the Cloud Applied AI team. You will design, develop and deploy large-scale solutions, guiding cross-functional teams and shaping model deployment and data processing strategies.

Interview process includes in-person sessions. Compelling compensation includes base salary, 20% bonus target, equity and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of software development experience.
• 5 years of experience with Speech/audio, reinforcement learning, ML infrastructure, or related ML field.
• 5 years of experience leading ML design and optimizing end-to-end ML (model deployment, evaluation, data processing).
• 5 years of experience testing, launching software products, and 3 years in design/architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance large-scale software solutions.
• Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects, manage priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Facilitate alignment across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines, coaching distributed engineers.
• Lead design and implementation of solutions in specialized ML areas, optimize ML infrastructure, and guide model optimization and data processing strategies.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience with one or more of the following: Speech/audio (e.g., technology duplicating and responding to the human voice), reinforcement learning (e.g., sequential decision making), ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.
• 5 years of experience leading ML design and optimizing end-to-end Machine Learning (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
• 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $207000 - $300000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits
