Job summary

GEICO is hiring a Staff Software Engineer in Renton, WA to design, build, and evolve scalable microservices using Java 21+ and Spring Boot. You will partner with architects, product managers, and data teams to shape roadmaps and deliver AI-enabled capabilities.

You will mentor engineers, improve code quality, and advance observability, testing, and DevOps practices while contributing to cutting-edge Generative AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of professional experience building scalable, high-performance systems in Java.
• Strong knowledge of Java 21+ and Spring Boot 3.4.x+.
• Experience designing distributed microservices architectures and RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on with Generative AI apps and modern AI concepts (RAG, MCP).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices using Java 21+ and Spring Boot 3.4.x.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architects and Product Managers to define roadmaps and blueprints.
• Build and integrate AI-powered features for Generative AI use cases.
• Mentor engineers, set coding standards, and improve observability and automation.
• Drive recruitment and cross-team collaboration to deliver high-quality software.
