Job summary

Harvey is seeking a Staff or Senior Staff Software Engineer to own cross‑team product engineering initiatives. You will collaborate with AI, Legal, and GTM teams to build secure, scalable systems and deliver value across web, desktop, mobile, and embedded surfaces, including Word, Outlook, and Slack integrations.

You’ll drive major projects, mentor engineers, and shape the future of AI-enabled legal tech products in a hybrid NYC or SF setting.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of product-focused software engineering at Staff level or above.
• Experience across full stack, backend, or AI domains.
• Proven ability to build scalable, extensible SaaS systems.
• Track record shipping highly intuitive products in fast-growing SaaS.
• Proficiency with React, TypeScript, CSS (TailwindCSS), Python; expertise in agentic AI systems.
• Experience with AI coding tools and applying AI to product development.
• Ability to influence and align engineers and leaders beyond direct scope.

Responsibilities

• Lead large, high-priority projects spanning multiple teams and define technical bets.
• Land on business-critical problems, prioritize ruthlessly, and make tradeoffs.
• Build AI-native capabilities, tool calls, memory, and context management.
• Ship systems enabling search over large document corpora with secure workflows.
• Develop across stack: React/TypeScript, Python, and Postgres with robust APIs.
• Mentor senior engineers and raise the bar for the org.
• Collaborate with AI, Legal, and GTM teams to deliver customer value.
