Job summary

Illumio is seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer (Python with Go a plus) in Sunnyvale to advance our cloud-based networking security platform. You will build scalable services, APIs, and distributed systems that power zero-trust segmentation across multi-cloud environments.

You will work with AWS/Azure, Kubernetes, and containerized deployments to drive performance, reliability, and security. A strong focus on networking, security controls, and scalable architecture is essential.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage cloud-based architecture focusing on efficiency, scalability, availability and security.
• Evaluate and select cloud technologies and tools to meet company needs, including Kubernetes.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and security vulnerabilities in cloud environments.
• Monitor, log, and alert on cloud infrastructure health and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and architect scalable cloud solutions.

Senior Backend Software Engineer (Python (Golang a plus))

Hybrid: 2 days in office/week in Sunnyvale, CA

As a Senior Software Engineer, every day you will determine how we integrate firewall management security frameworks into our existing ecosystem using Go / Golang. You will be working in cloud environments, like AWS, and you will focus on the networking aspects of our tech stack.

To thrive in this role, you will need Go / Golang coding experience, and cloud experience in Azure or AWS is ideal. You will need networking experience, especially security networking, and building and deploying APIs.

Your Impact:

Deliver cloud architecture that solves the business problem and balance architecture and business margins

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product manager, developers, DevOps engineers to understand business requirements and architect scalable cloud solutions

Design, deploy, and manage cloud-based architecture using industry best practices, focusing on efficiency, scalability, availability, performance, and security

Evaluate and select appropriate cloud technologies, platforms, and tools, including Kubernetes, to meet the company's needs and drive innovation

Optimize cloud-based systems for high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery

Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure the health and performance of the cloud infrastructure

Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and other operational issues in the cloud environment

Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in cloud computing, distributed systems, and cyber security

Your Toolkit:

Proven experience as a Cloud Architect or a similar role, designing and implementing cloud-based solutions in a production environment

Extensively used one of these platforms at the API/programming level

Experience with networking and security controls is a plus

Language and programming requirements

Experience in one or more programming languages: Java, Python

CloudFormation, Terraform are nice to have

Working knowledge of spring or similar eco systems o Knowledge of Kubernetes and docker containers is good to have

Gang of four design patters

Strong expertise in cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

In-depth knowledge of Kubernetes and containerization technologies

Built highly scalable distributed system from ground up

Experience with building highly scalable and resilient cloud services

Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

Strong communication and collaboration abilities

Ability to work in an agile environment and drive initiatives with clarity and purpose
