Moody's is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and delivery of large-scale technical solutions across multiple teams, mentoring engineers and shaping strategy.

You will drive multi-year technical roadmaps, build scalable architectures, and collaborate with product teams to deliver customer value. A Bachelor's or Master's in CS or related field is required, with 8+ years in software development and experience with Java, C#, or Python.

Skills and Competencies

• 8+ years of hands-on experience delivering high-impact, multi-team technical projects
• Proficiency in Java, Scala, C#, C++, or Python
• Experience with relational databases (Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle) and NoSQL data stores
• Proven development of production-quality RESTful APIs and microservices
• Experience with cloud-native application development using Docker and Kubernetes, as well as on-prem solutions
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
• Focus on scalability, availability, reliability, security, and cost-effective execution
• Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using tools such as Copilot, Claude, and ChatGPT to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency

Education

About the Team

The Data Platform Engineering team supports key products and platform components within Moody's Insurance group, including Risk Modeler, Data Bridge, Underwrite IQ, and the Unified Data Store. The team focuses on building scalable and reliable platforms and services across databases, REST APIs, and core platform capabilities, leveraging technologies such as Java, C#, and SQL Server to enable high-quality, data-driven solutions.

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $168,100.00 - $243,700.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
