Job summary

Walmart Global Tech in Bellevue, WA, seeks a Staff Software Engineer for the Marketplace Platform to design and maintain advanced frameworks powering Walmart’s Marketplace for sellers and channel partners. You will code, debug, optimize, and monitor performance while mentoring juniors and collaborating with product and UX/UI teams.

You will lead the Marketplace Platform API, enabling third‑party developers and driving architectural decisions for scalable, cloud‑native systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or related field with 4 years of software engineering experience.
• Option 2: 6 years’ experience in software engineering.
• Experience in ecommerce or marketplace platforms.
• Experience with cloud-native technologies and DevOps practices.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Ability to lead projects and mentor junior engineers.

What You Will Bring

• Proficiency in Java for backend services, including extensive experience with Spring Boot.

• Expertise in TypeScript and frontend frameworks such as React.

• Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, system design, and microservices architecture.

• Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.

• Familiarity with both SQL and NoSQL databases, as well as caching solutions.

• Experience working in platform teams or building shared tools and frameworks for other developers.

• Proven ability to write clean, testable, and maintainable code.

• Prior experience with cloud‑native technologies (GCP/Azure) and DevOps practices.

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated leadership abilities to lead projects and mentor junior team members.

• Experience in e‑commerce or marketplace platforms.

• Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
