Job summary

CVS Health is seeking a Staff Software Development Engineer to lead design and delivery of enterprise-scale solutions in Medicare technology. You will influence technical direction, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams to improve member experiences and operational efficiency.

The role requires deep full-stack expertise with C#, .NET, Blazor, REST APIs, and cloud-native practices, plus CI/CD, DevSecOps, and secure coding.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of work experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise web apps with C#, .NET, and ASP.NET Core.
  • Experience building modern web apps with Blazor and front-end technologies.
  • Full-stack development across services, APIs, databases, and UI.
  • Advanced SQL with data modeling, queries, stored procedures, and tuning.
  • RESTful APIs and microservices design and testing.
  • Cloud integration across Azure/AWS/GCP.
  • CI/CD, source control, and DevSecOps with GitHub.
  • Secure coding, testing, monitoring, and operations.
  • Experience leading design reviews and mentoring developers.
  • Agile/Scrum collaboration.

The Staff Software Development Engineer is a highly skilled technical leader who drives the design, development, and delivery of enterprise technology solutions. This individual leads complex initiatives, champions engineering best practices, mentors team members, and collaborates across business and technology teams to build innovative, scalable, and reliable solutions that advance CVS Health's mission and strategic objectives.

The ideal candidate possesses expertise in modern full-stack application development, cloud-native architectures, DevSecOps practices, API and microservices design, data integration, and operational excellence. This individual is a self-starter who can influence technical direction across teams, resolve complex engineering challenges, and deliver solutions that provide measurable business value.

Responsibilities

Required Qualifications
7+ years work experience

Expertise in designing, developing, and supporting enterprise web applications using C#, .NET, and ASP.NET Core

Experience building modern web applications using Blazor and related front‑end technologies

Expertise in full‑stack application development, including business services, APIs, databases, and UI

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft SQL, including data modeling, query optimization, stored procedures, and performance tuning

Experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs and microservices

Experience designing, building, unit testing, and integration testing of a full stack application

Practical experience integrating applications/components with one or more cloud providers (Azure, AWS, GCP)

Hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines, source control, and DevSecOps practices with GitHub and GitHub Actions

Strong understanding of software design patterns, secure coding practices, automated testing, and application monitoring

Experience leading technical design discussions, conducting code reviews, and mentoring developers

Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence

Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and collaborating with cross‑functional business and technology teams

Experience working with CoPilot and MCP servers to build, review, and document complex workflows

Preferred Qualifications
Healthcare, insurance, enrollment, or claims system experience
Experience working with Jira and Confluence
Experience with Oracle Database
Experience with DB2
Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases
Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
Education:

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience)

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$106,605.00 - $260,590.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full‑time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short‑term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
