Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) is hiring a Staff Engineer, Security Automation to anchor automation across its security organization. The role focuses on connecting tools, centralizing data, and building AI-native automations that enable a small team to operate at scale.

You will craft LLM-augmented workflows and agentic automations across the security stack, spanning SIEM, identity, endpoint, and vulnerability management, working closely with engineering, IR, and IT teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of security engineering experience with automation and tool-building.
• Producing production‑quality security tooling with Python or similar.
• Broad security fundamentals across cloud security, detection engineering, identity, and vulnerability management.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs or AI APIs integrating AI into workflows.
• Awareness of AI security risks: prompt injection, data exfiltration, model risk.

Responsibilities

• Anchor automation across the security org by connecting tools and centralizing data.
• Build AI-native workflows, agentic automations, and dashboards for scalable security operations.
• Unify SIEM, vulnerability scans, EDR, identity, and asset management into a single picture.
• Develop frameworks and dashboards to expose asset inventory, posture, and compliance evidence.
• Reduce manual toil by building cross-tool automation spanning multiple platforms.
