Job summary

The Hershey Company in Hershey, PA is seeking a Staff Engineer, Process Technology R&D to lead chocolate and process development across multiple platforms, from early research to commercial implementation. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive scale-up to production while ensuring safety and quality standards.

Ideal candidates have a BS in engineering and 8–10 years in food processing or snack product development, with a strong track record in process

Qualifications

• BS in Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Biological Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with 8–10 years of related experience.
• Experience in food processing, snacks, baking, wafers or related products preferred.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities for junior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex process development and validation programs across multiple platforms.
• Identify and advance new process technologies to support innovation and growth.
• Provide technical leadership for high-complexity projects from research to commercialization.
• Drive scale-up from development through pilot and full production.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver viable process solutions.
• Transfer knowledge to Product Development, Commercialization, Operations, and Manufacturing.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide technicians supporting development activities.
• Build external technical networks with suppliers, research institutes, and universities.
