Job summary

FuelCell Energy is seeking a highly skilled StaffSCADA Engineer to lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for advanced fuel cell power generation projects.

This role operates with autonomy, providing technical leadership across complex initiatives and partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable data acquisition and control for optimal plant performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on SCADA engineering experience in energy, power generation, or industrial automation.
  • Proficiency in SCADA software platforms, PLC programming, and industrial communication protocols.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and implementation of advanced SCADA systems for fuel cell projects, exercising independent judgment to align objectives with goals.
  • Oversee integration of SCADA platforms with plant operations to optimize data flow and system performance.
  • Independently troubleshoot and resolve SCADA issues, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
  • Lead network infrastructure optimization and cybersecurity protocol implementation across SCADA operations.
  • Provide expert support for remote monitoring and real-time operational alerts.
  • Lead system upgrades, maintain documentation, and mentor engineers while training operators.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements throughout SCADA processes.

FuelCell Energy is seeking a highly skilled StaffSCADA Engineer to lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for advanced fuel cell power generation projects. This role will operate with a high degree of autonomy, provide technical leadership across complex SCADA initiatives, guide system architecture and integration decisions, and partner with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable data acquisition and control for optimal plant performance.

Essential Functions/Duties and Responsibilities :
  • Lead the development and implementation of advanced SCADA systems for fuel cell power generation projects, exercising independent judgment to align solutions with organizational goals, project requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Oversee integration of SCADA platforms with complex plant operations, serving as a technical authority for cross-functional teams to optimize data flow, system performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Independently troubleshoot and resolve complex SCADA system issues, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions to protect plant performance and system reliability.
  • Lead network infrastructure optimization and cybersecurity protocol implementation across SCADA operations, making recommendations that strengthen system resilience, compliance, and protection of organizational assets.
  • Provide expert support for remote monitoring initiatives, responding to real-time operational alerts with decisive action to mitigate risks and ensure uninterrupted plant operations.
  • Lead system upgrades, maintain comprehensive technical documentation, mentor less experienced engineers, and deliver advanced training to plant operators to elevate SCADA functionality and promote technical excellence.
  • Champion compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements throughout all SCADA processes, ensuring organizational integrity and operational safety.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of hands‑on SCADA engineering experience, preferably in energy, power generation, or industrial automation environments
  • Proficiency in SCADA software platforms, PLC programming, and industrial communication protocols
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and project management skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Working Environment / Working Conditions :
  • Work in office, laboratory, fabrication, and field environments.
  • Periodic outdoor work in operating power plant environments during commissioning and troubleshooting activities.
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs and use hand tools and test equipment.
  • Willingness and ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Travel up to 25% domestic or international.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a passport.
