We are looking for a Staff Robotics Test Engineer. They will will facilitate the advancement for test coverage and integration robustness via test automation and tool development to support multiple robotic platforms supporting growing customer projects.
We are a talented team of roboticists working on the heart of Symbotic’s automation solution – Symbot , the mobile robot. We are responsible for delivering solutions for the storage and retrieval of cases performed in a fully autonomous structure operating 1,000s of Symbots at customer sites.
Own design, implement and run software test for mobile robot drive and pick n’ place capabilities.
Owns development of simulation in the loop and hardware in the loop testing for verification of robot behaviors.
Own software integration testing of systems and subsystems.
Lead testing framework development for scalability across multiple robot platforms.
Implement and conduct tests via scripting, data log parsing and analysis
Collaborate with software developers to develop tests that verify performance of new robot capabilities.
Perform root cause analysis and system level debugging of hardware/software components for mobile robot platform .
Troubleshoot system problems in production or design by investigating issues related to product performance or production difficulties.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science , Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field .
Minimum 6 years of engineering experience testing complex robotics and integrated hardware/software systems.
Strong robotics systems testing expertise , including hardware integration, validation, and troubleshooting.
Proficient in Python, C++, Bash, Linux, Git, and test automation frameworks (e.g., PyTest ).
Experience with CI/CD tools, containerization, data analysis, and log parsing techniques.
Solid knowledge of software QA principles, testing methodologies, and embedded/robotic systems.
Hands-on experience with ROS, Gazebo, robotics simulation platforms, and HIL/SIL testing environments.
Experience building scalable robotic test frameworks and familiarity with AI-assisted development tools.
Up to 10% of travel may be required . Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
The base range for this position in the posted location is $149,000.00 - $204,600.00 however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO and/or other benefits.
