Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Staff Robotics Engineer for manufacturing automation. You will design, program, and deploy automated robotic systems across production lines, focusing on safety, efficiency, and reliability. The role requires strong expertise in FANUC/UR robots, simulation, and integration with vision and PLC systems.

You will mentor the robotics team and establish internal standards while collaborating with controls, mechanical, and production staff to scale automation nationwide.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in robotics, mechanical, electrical, computer science, or related field.
  • 12+ years hands-on robotics and automation in manufacturing environments.
  • Expert in programming and commissioning FANUC and UR robots/cobots.
  • Proficient in robot simulation software (FANUC ROBOGUIDE, UR VC, Visual Components).
  • Strong knowledge of safety standards and safety function implementations.

Responsibilities

  • Select and integrate industrial robot/cobot applications from concept to production.
  • Develop and debug robot programs, including motion & vision-based guidance.
  • Design robot cells, safety enclosures, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Verify safety functions (STO, SLS) per applicable standards.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration to ensure seamless automation deployment.

Staff Robotics Engineer, Manufacturing Automation

ABOUT THE TEAM

Anduril’s Manufacturing Automation team is seeking a Staff Robotics Engineer to join our team. The Manufacturing Automation team is responsible for the design, integration, and deployment of automated manufacturing systems across Anduril factories. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to help define what production automation looks like for Anduril at a national scale.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Select, design, and integrate industrial robot and cobot applications for manufacturing automation, from initial concept through full production deployment
  • Develop, optimize, and debug robot programs, including motion planning, safety configurations, and vision-based guidance
  • Specify, select, and integrate EOAT, including grippers, sensors, and custom tooling
  • Design and manage robot cell layouts, including safety enclosures, work envelopes, and necessary infrastructure
  • Implement and verify safety functions (STO, SLS, etc.) in accordance with relevant safety standards
  • Develop and execute simulation models to validate robot reach, cycle time, and potential collisions before physical implementation
  • Select and configure the robot for application specific software, hardware, and peripheral equipment
  • Develop and enforce internal standards for robotic system design, programming, safety, and integration
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including controls engineers, mechanical designers, and production staff, to ensure seamless integration of robotic systems
  • Define the robotics technology roadmap and internal standards across the organization
  • Provide technical leadership across multiple programs and mentor and develop the robotics team

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field
  • 12+ years of hands‑on experience in robotics and automation within a manufacturing production environment
  • Expert in programming and commissioning robots / cobots from FANUC and UR
  • Proficiency in utilizing robot simulation software (e.g., FANUC ROBOGUIDE, UR Virtual Controller, Visual Components)
  • Strong theoretical and practical understanding of robot kinematics, dynamics, motion control, and advanced path planning techniques
  • Proficient in the configuration, tuning, and troubleshooting of robot drives, servo motors, and associated motion control systems
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial safety standards (e.g., ISO 10218, RIA R15.06) and the implementation of safety functions like STO, SLS, SS1, etc.
  • Proven experience in EOAT selection, design, integration, and troubleshooting, including pneumatic, electric, and vacuum grippers
  • Strong understanding of EtherNet/IP and Profinet
  • Knowledge of PLC programming (Allen Bradley and Siemens)
  • Experience integrating and configuring vision systems for guidance, inspection, and quality control
  • Experience designing and deploying robotic dispense systems
  • Familiarity with CAD packages including NX or AutoCAD
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export controlled information or facilities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 15+ years of hands‑on experience in robotics and automation within a manufacturing production environment
  • Experience designing and deploying robotic dispense systems
  • Experience integrating and configuring vision systems for guidance, inspection, and quality control
  • Knowledge of PLC programming (Allen Bradley and Siemens)
  • Familiarity with CAD packages including NX or AutoCAD
  • TÜV FS Engineer certification (Functional Safety of Machinery)
  • Experience designing robots and other mechatronic systems from scratch

US Salary Range

$166,000 - $220,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
