Overview

Stamford Health is hiring a Fulltime RN for our Float Pool for DAY SHIFT! This position is full-time (3) 13-hour shifts, 7am to 8pm, with rotating weekends and holidays. Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the Nursing Process and following all established standards of practice within State and Federal guidelines.
• Provide supervision of non-RN personnel and act as a resource for ancillary staff on the assigned unit.
• Supervise unit activities when assigned to charge or clinical coordinator role.
• Act as preceptor to new staff and/or students as requested.
• Adhere to all Stamford Hospital’s policies and procedures, including the Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program.
• Provide safe and therapeutic care using the values inherent in the hospital culture.
• Provides direct patient care to a select group of patients and advocates on their behalf.
• Assesses patient’s physical and psychosocial condition throughout the continuum of care.
• Develops and communicates patient plan of care reflecting patient issues and proposed interventions to achieve desired patient outcomes.
• Collaborates with the patient, family and healthcare team in implementing the plan of care.
• Coordinates and leads activities when scheduled and documents daily group notes in each patient’s chart; may complete the Activity Therapy Assessment and ongoing treatment plans in the absence of the Activities Therapist.
• Provides education as indicated after assessing learning needs of the patient and family.
• Communicates effectively with all members of the health care team and related departments to provide accurate information about patient care.
• Formulates and maintains effective working relationships with peers, managers and other team members.
• Maintains a positive attitude and fosters an environment of respect, accountability, teamwork, integrity, and compassion.
• Respects and protects patient rights to confidentiality and privacy; discloses information only for professional purposes with consideration of legal rights.
• Practices the 5 rights of patient safety when administering medications, blood or blood products and treatments (right patient, right medication, right route, right dose, right time).
• Responds to crisis in a calm, efficient manner, directing others concisely.
• Evaluates patient outcomes and readiness for discharge or continuing care; revises plan as needed and refers for additional services when indicated.
• Documents pertinent information, observations, and all aspects of patient care clearly, concisely and in a timely manner, including Nursing Treatment Plans.
• Maintains professional communication, attends staff meetings, safety huddles, and seeks clarification when needed.
• Maintains equipment and utilizes supplies in a safe, cost-effective manner.
• Participates in performance improvement, risk management, clinical research, and ongoing regulatory readiness activities.
• Supports hospital-wide and unit-specific initiatives (e.g., Planetree, Magnet, Stroke Certification, Joint Certification).
• Contributes to development and implementation of goals, policies, procedures and standards of care aligned with the organization’s strategic plan.
• Completes required continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements.
• Takes responsibility for own professional development; Stamford Health encourages nurses to engage in professional organizations.
• Complies with attendance and department staffing policies and rotations; adheres to dress code policy and external agency requirements.
• Performs other related duties as assigned to maintain a high level of service.

Qualifications

• Maintain a minimum of 6 contact hours annually.
• Minimum of 2 years prior RN experience; acute care RN experience preferred.
