Job description

Bloom Energy is looking for a Staff Reliability Engineer to join our team in San Jose, CA. The role will report to the Sr. Director of Reliability Engineering and will be fully onsite.

San Jose, CA – Onsite

Responsibilities

• Perform root‑cause analyses for field‑returned solid oxide fuel cell products to drive reliability improvement.
• Develop reliability test plans for solid oxide fuel cell products for continuous improvement.
• Gather and validate data from multiple databases using Python, SQL or other methods to complete analyses on performance, reliability and degradation of Bloom Energy fuel cell systems.
• Work with Quality, Product Development, Field Service and Remote Monitoring to gather and analyze information to support root cause and corrective actions of product failures and other operational incidents.
• Support efforts to improve data collection and databases for effective and efficient analysis.
• Develop methods to automate repeated analyses to allow for efficient monitoring of fleet performance and reliability metrics.
• Develop reliability block diagrams and Monte Carlo simulations to provide data to Product Development, Service, Marketing, Finance and other stakeholders to support predictions of service replacements and associated costs.
• Organize data input into Excel and JMP statistical analysis packages to complete critical reliability analyses.
• Interpret the results of analyses in collaboration with Service, Operations, Quality Engineering and Product Development to lead continuous improvement of product performance, degradation and reliability.
• Create PowerPoint presentations summarizing analyses with assumptions, conclusions and recommendations for customer and internal audiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Reliability or Systems Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience.
• Pre‑fered experience or study in Reliability Engineering and/or data analytics.
• Proficiency with data mining, including expertise in SQL and Python, and a strong focus on data accuracy and validation.
• Experience using JMP, Minitab or other statistical analysis programs and Tableau for data visualization.
• Knowledge of Reliability Block Diagrams, Fault Tree Analysis, or Markov modelling using Reliasoft or comparable software is a plus.
• Experience performing Root Cause and Corrective Actions (RCCA) using Six Sigma or 8D methods to solve complex problems with cross‑functional teams.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint to create professional reliability reports and presentations.

Compensation

Salary range: $114,800.00 – $165,200.00. Total compensation includes standard company benefits and is based on various factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience.
