Job summary

BD is a leading global medical technology company that advances health worldwide. The Staff R&D Engineer will lead sustaining engineering efforts, evaluate product designs against evolving needs, and drive practical, compliant solutions across the lifecycle of multiple products.

You will collaborate with R&D, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Operations, Manufacturing, and Marketing to deliver design improvements, manage risk, and support global registrations and market expansion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical, or Systems Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with design controls (21 CFR 820, ISO 13485) and risk management (ISO 14971).
• Experience supporting lifecycle management of medical devices and regulatory submissions.

Responsibilities

• Lead or serve as technical lead for sustaining engineering projects across global product portfolios.
• Evaluate designs against clinical, regulatory, and business requirements to identify improvements.
• Develop technical solutions supporting global registrations, market expansion, and compliance.
• Lead assessments related to design changes, obsolescence, supplier changes, and risk mitigation.
• Apply design controls, usability, and risk management to changes in released products.
• Support regulatory submissions, technical files, risk analyses, and change documentation.
• Use post-market feedback to drive continuous product improvement.
• Balance customer needs, patient safety, and business objectives in technical decisions.
• Mentor and be a SME within the organization.
