Job summary

Stripe in New York seeks a Staff Designer to lead visual design across Link products, shaping the visual language for onboarding, checkout, and AI-driven experiences.

You’ll own early-stage design exploration, establish cohesive visual systems, and partner with cross-functional teams to define product strategy and execution. Strong design leadership and prototyping in code are valued.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of product design experience with a strong visual and mobile design foundation.
• Portfolio with clear 0-1 work and products you took from concept to launch where you defined the visual language.
• Demonstrated ability to create cohesive, distinctive visual systems for new products from scratch.
• Deep fluency across visual design, interaction design, and prototyping.
• Experience working in high-ambiguity environments where you framed the problem before solving it.
• Ability to design and prototype in code.
• Strong independence and an ability to advocate for a larger design vision with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ability to reduce complex problems down to the right balance of flexibility, power, and ease of use.
• Skilled in explaining your work, process, and decisions to cross-functional stakeholders and crave feedback to help you produce your best work.

Responsibilities

• Define the visual design direction for net-new Link products and surfaces from the ground up across mobile and web
• Lead design exploration on early-stage, pre-roadmap opportunities from initial concept through launch
• Build new visual languages, component patterns, and design systems for products that don't exist yet
• Partner with brand designers to extend and evolve Link's visual identity into new product categories
• Shape early product strategy through design exploration and rapid prototyping, making abstract opportunities tangible for product and engineering partners
• Represent Link's design vision in senior reviews and establish the creative bar for new product areas
