Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced DevOps/Platform Engineer to design and deploy our cloud and AI infrastructure, setting standards and growing a capable platform team. The role will codify decisions, mentor engineers, and build the MLOps foundation for AI products.

You will lead architecture decisions, implement IaC conventions, CI/CD, observability, and secure deployment workflows while collaborating with data scientists and leaders in a fast-moving environment.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Design and build the deployment vehicle of our cloud and AI infrastructure.
• Set the standards the rest of the team will build on.
• Grow the surrounding engineers into a capable platform team.
• Make foundational decisions — cloud architecture, IaC conventions, CI/CD, observability, on-call.
• Codify decisions to scale beyond individual contributions.
• Serve as DevOps mentor for engineers lacking deep expertise.
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and self‑service tooling.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using Terraform and Helm.
• Instrument monitoring, logging, and alerting across services and infrastructure.
• Implement security best practices across infrastructure and deployment workflows.
• Mentor engineers and run design reviews.
• Build the MLOps foundation for AppGate's AI products.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with data scientists, product teams and leadership.

Requirements

• Extensive DevOps, platform, infrastructure, or SRE engineering experience with a track record of operating production systems at scale.
• Hands‑on experience standing up infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines in a greenfield or early‑stage environment.
• Hands‑on experience implementing observability across APIs, cloud services and distributed systems using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, the ELK stack or comparable.
• Familiarity with implementing security best practices in infrastructure and deployment workflows.
• Fluency in a primary backend language (Python, Go or similar) and a strong bias toward automation, testing and reliable, maintainable systems.
• A demonstrated record of growing engineers and setting technical direction.
• Pragmatic, rigorous and ownership‑driven. You thrive in a small, fast‑moving environment.
