Job summary

Cantina is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for the Platform Team to establish a foundation that accelerates product development through reusable, scalable components. You will focus on long-term platform investments, abstracting concepts into shared services to enable future growth.

You'll design core services, maintain search infrastructure, and lead DevOps initiatives with AWS, Terraform, and observability, while mentoring other engineering teams and enhancing developer productivity.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience building foundation-level platform services and infrastructure.
• Extensive AWS, Terraform, and infrastructure-as-code experience for large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep proficiency in Go and backend architectures, focused on reusable frameworks and tools.
• Strong understanding of developer productivity metrics and improving internal iteration cycles.
• Experience with search infrastructure, indexing strategies, and observability platforms.
• Collaborative mindset capable of leading cross-cutting initiatives and advising on architecture.

Responsibilities

• Design and build core services and platform components for use across the engineering org.
• Develop and maintain search indices and relevance systems.
• Oversee DevOps initiatives: manage AWS usage, Terraform configurations, infra upgrades, and observability.
• Own and improve the developer experience by optimizing the backend repository and Go stack.
• Provide consulting and mentorship to other engineering teams on platform technologies.
