Job summary

Simplesense seeks a Staff Platform Engineer to own the technical strategy and delivery of an operational platform enabling rapid decision-making for critical infrastructure. You will oversee cloud network architecture, performance, and reliability while collaborating with Product and Operations to ensure resiliency and security for mission systems.

Hybrid work model preferred in Denver, CO, San Antonio, TX, or Brooklyn, NY with remote options for exceptional candidates; travel quarterly to hub

Qualifications

• 7–15 years of experience delivering scalable, secure systems.
• Deep AWS networking and cloud infrastructure expertise.
• Infrastructure automation with Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Proficiency in NodeJS or Python.
• DoD/DoN/compliance knowledge; US citizenship and security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own platform development end-to-end from concept to delivery and maintenance.
• Collaborate with Development, Product, Operations, and external vendors.
• Provide technical leadership and roadmaps for the platform.
• Lead system design and architecture for core components and security controls.
• Mentor teammates and unblock blockers to improve team output.
• Contribute hands-on coding (~60%) on critical parts of the project.
• Improve CI/CD, testing standards, and cross-team processes.
