Job summary

Genius AI in San Francisco seeks a Staff Infrastructure Engineer to design and operate our software factory. You’ll treat CI pipelines, deploy tooling and alerting as products, working with engineers and AI agents to speed and secure shipping.

You will own SLOs, codify monitoring, and shape guardrails for safe infrastructure changes. This in-person role requires 3-4 days in the office, collaboration across teams, and a track record of building scalable, reliable platforms in a startup

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, incl. infrastructure, platform or developer experience.
• Staff-level ownership: directed a platform/build/deploy system used by many engineers.
• Deep hands-on with a major public cloud (AWS) and Kubernetes in production.
• Infrastructure as code (Terraform) and GitOps-style delivery (ArgoCD).
• Experience designing CI/CD at scale: self-hosted runners, caching, progressive delivery, safe rollbacks.
• Strong observability and reliability instincts: define SLOs, clean alerts, fix incidents.
• Product mindset toward internal tooling; measure adoption and minimize infra requests.
• AI tooling integrated into development workflows; adapt processes accordingly.

Responsibilities

• Scale our CI platform as the orchestration layer for our software factory.
• Build systems that let engineers deploy with confidence and speed.
• Design guardrails, validation, and auto-approval paths for safe infra changes.
• Shape tooling and access so engineers and AI agents can investigate incidents across layers.
• Own SLOs, codify monitoring in Terraform, and reduce noisy alerts.
• Write technical designs, review major changes, and mentor engineers for platform direction.
