Job summary

The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation, based in Newberg, Oregon, seeks a per diem physician to oversee medical services in treatment settings. You may consult outside physicians, supervise nurses, participate in on-call duties, and educate patients about medical issues during treatment.

Requirements include MD or DO, active state medical license, NPI, DEA, BLS from ARC or AHA, and board certification in relevant fields. Experience in addiction medicine is preferred.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree required.
  • Current license to practice medicine in appropriate state.
  • NPI (National Provider Identification) required.
  • DEA license.
  • Board certification in internal medicine, family practice, emergency medicine, or addiction medicine.
  • Current BLS certification from ARC or AHA.

Responsibilities

This is a per diem position.

Oversee and provide appropriate medical services at Hazelden Betty Ford, which may include consultation with outside physicians as needed and referral, if appropriate. Act as a liaison between nursing and the medical staff, and provide education, related to medical issues, for patients while in treatment. Participate in the on call duties with other members of the medical team as needed. Provide supervision to Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistant's and allied health professionals.

  • Perform admission medical history and physical exams on all patients within 24 hours of admission
  • Prescribe non-controlled medications and controlled substances
  • Supervise patients regarding detoxification and other medical issues
  • Order and interpret lab tests
  • Serve as member of multidisciplinary treatment team
  • Customer relations
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate (MD or DO)
  • Must be 18 + years of age
  • Current license to practice medicine in appropriate state
  • Individual NPI (National Provider Identification)
  • Board certified in internal medicine, family practice, emergency room medicine, or addiction medicine.
  • DEA license
  • Current BLS certification. Certification must be from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Practice in general medicine, such as internal medicine, family practice, emergency room medicine, addiction medicine.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in addiction medicine practice
  • Experience in acute care
  • Board certification in ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine)
