Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, MA is seeking a part-time pharmacist to ensure safe storage, handling, preparation and dispensing of medications in compliance with state and federal regulations.

The role involves supervising pharmacy technicians, providing drug information to clinicians, maintaining records and supporting a smooth workflow in the pharmacy. A Massachusetts Pharmacist License and a PharmD are required or preferred, with per diem shifts and weekend differentials.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy degree or PharmD with licensure in Massachusetts.
• License to practice in MA and board certification preferred.
• Residency training (PGY1) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains proper records and complete communication with stakeholders.
• Follows department guidelines and provides drug information as needed.
• Supervises pharmacy technicians and ensures efficient workflow.
• Advises clinicians on drug interactions, incompatibilities and administration.

Education

B.S. degree in Pharmacy; Doctor of Pharmacy Degree preferred

Massachusetts Pharmacist License

Board Certification preferred

PGY1 Residency training preferred

Position Purpose

Ensures the safe and effective use of pharmaceuticals through their proper storage, handling, evaluation, preparation, compounding, labeling and dispensing in conjunction with state and federal regulations and departmental policies

What you will do

• Maintains proper records, documentation and provides complete communication as appropriate.

• Follows department guidelines with regard to clinical interventions and provides drug information as required and/or requested

• Supervises pharmacy technicians and maintains efficient workflow of the area they are working in

• Advises other health care professionals on drug interactions, incompatibilities, side effects, and proper administration of medications

Minimum Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Pharmacy; Doctor of Pharmacy Degree preferred

• Massachusetts Pharmacist License

• Board Certification preferred

• PGY1 Residency training preferred

Pay Range $48.45-77.50

Rate is based on experience, skills, and education.
