Job summary

Methodist Rehabilitation Center in Jackson, MS is seeking a full-time Hospital Pharmacist to join a specialized rehabilitation team. The pharmacist will provide safe, effective medication therapy for adolescent to geriatric patients, prepare and dispense medications, monitor therapies, and offer clinical drug information.

Leadership duties may arise in the Pharmacy Director's absence. The role emphasizes collaboration with physicians, nurses, and pharmacy staff, with on-call responsibilities

Qualifications

• Graduate of an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS in Pharmacy or PharmD.
• Current licensure with the Mississippi State Board of Pharmacy.
• Health-system experience preferred but not required.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with physicians, nurses, and pharmacy staff.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and dispense oral, intravenous, sterile, and other medications per orders and policies.
• Review and interpret medication orders and maintain patient profiles.
• Monitor therapies for allergies, interactions, and dosing.
• Provide clinical consultations and drug information to physicians, nurses, patients, and families.
• Assist with pharmacokinetic dosing and antibiotic changes per protocol.
• Detect adverse drug reactions and medication errors; promote safe, cost-effective therapy.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians and support personnel; manage inventory.
• Participate in medication-use evaluations and quality improvement activities.
• Provide after-hours coverage as needed; support Pharmacy Director.

As a specialized physical rehabilitation hospital, we are dedicated to helping patients restore independence and achieve their highest level of recovery.The Hospital Pharmacist will play an important role in providing safe, effective, and patient-centered medication therapy for adolescent, adult, and geriatric rehabilitation patients. Responsibilities include preparing and dispensing medications, monitoring medication therapies, providing clinical drug information, and supervising pharmacy support personnel.
