Responsibilities

• Assist the cardio-thoracic service with by-pass surgeries and valve replacements.
• Review patient records prior to surgery to confirm the plan of care.
• Prepare, operate and maintain heart-lung machines and related equipment.

We are tasked with staffing the Minneapolis VA Healthcare System with three (3) FTE Board Certified Perfusionists for daily and on-call services.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience
• Performed a minimum of 1000 clinical cases
• Must be within 30 minutes of the facility
• Graduate of an accredited Allied Health Education Program School of Perfusion Technology
• ABCP Certification and current on all continuing education requirements
• Assist the Cardio-Thoracic service with by-pass surgical cases and various types of valve replacements
• Perfusionists responsibilities include viewing the patient record prior to the surgery to review the surgeon’s plan of care
• Other services include preparation, operation and maintenance of the heart and lung machines/pump, auto transfusion pump, intra-aortic balloon pump and centrifugal ventricular assist device.
