The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost‑effective care.
The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and their family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating, and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model.
This fast‑paced, high‑acuity unit cares for patients with breast, thoracic, orthopedic, gynecologic, urology, neurology, hepatopancreatobiliary pancreatic, head and neck, neurology, and other intra‑abdominal cancers. Nurses develop specialty skills in airway management and free flap care, and manage a range of acuity levels from observation to progressive care.
