Responsibilities include direct patient care, coordination with the OR team, and ensuring quality and safety standards are met. Required: Ohio RN license and a two-year nursing degree; bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Scope of Position

The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization, The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost-effective care.

Position Summary

The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire:

• 2- year College Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing with a major in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program is preferred.
• Current Ohio license or interim permit required.
• 2 years of experience in relevant care setting is preferred.

On-going: Maintains current Ohio RN license. Meets mandatory educational and health requirements. Demonstrates computer skills required to meet job functions

Unit Description

The University Hospital Tower OR has 20 operating rooms. This includes providing services as a Level 1 Trauma Center specializing in a wide range of surgical services. These services include: General, Robotics, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Plastics, Transplant, Urology, OBGYN, and Ophthalmology. Our team delivers high-quality, evidence-based care, recognized with the 2025 Gold Plus Stroke Care award from the American Heart Association. We are proudly certified in Magnet, Trauma, Burn, and Stroke care.
