Job summary

Berkshire Health Systems in Pittsfield, MA is seeking a Registered Nurse for Per Diem coverage. The nurse will provide direct and indirect patient care, participate in planning and evaluation, and support safe, patient-centered outcomes in a fast-paced perioperative setting.

Ideal candidates will be a graduate of an accredited nursing program, hold MA RN licensure, BLS, ACLS within six months, and be able to float to Crane Ambulatory Center as needed with weekend/evening shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Minimal one year perioperative nursing experience preferred.
• One year or more med/surg nursing experience preferred.
• New grad considered based on department needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care, health maintenance, teaching, counseling, planning and restoration.
• Lead patient care as part of a health care team to ensure safe, patient-centered outcomes.
• Direct and guide patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel.
• Relate to OR call rotation and floating to Crane Ambulatory Center as needed.
• Support weekend or evening shifts as department needs dictate.

Definition/Primary Functions

Registered Nurse is the designation given to an individual who is licensed to practice professional nursing, holds ultimate responsibility for direct and indirect nursing care, is a graduate of an approved school for professional nursing, and is currently licensed as a Registered Nurse pursuant to M.G.L. c.112. Included in such responsibility is providing nursing care, health maintenance, teaching, counseling, planning and restoration for optimal functioning and comfort, of those they serve.

The Registered Professional Nurse functions as a health care team leader responsible for the safe delivery of patient-centered, goal oriented care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. The Registered Professional Nurse also directs and guides patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.

• Per Diem position requires minimum of 1-year experience as an OR circulator.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Has a thorough knowledge of nursing principles and procedures.

  • Demonstrates continuing education in accordance with State regulations. Assures compliance with unit-specific scope of practice. Must be able to speak the English language in an understandable manner. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so the requirements of the position can be fully met.
