Job summary

Children’s of Alabama is seeking a PACU Staff Nurse at the Main Campus. The role提供s full-time day-evening shifts, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am–7:30 pm, with rotating days off and on-call responsibilities.

The PACU team cares for neonate to adult patients recovering from general anesthesia across multiple surgical services. The ideal candidate holds an ASN in Nursing and an active Alabama RN license (or NLC multi-state) with BLS.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Alabama or AL NLC multi-state compact accepted
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) completed

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in the post-anesthesia recovery (PACU) setting.
• Provide care to patients recovering from surgery across multiple specialties.
• Utilize medical equipment and electronic records; document care and communicate with team.
• Maintain on-call and call-back availability as required by shift schedule.

Work schedule will be Full-time on the Day Evening Shift, Monday-Friday, 9am-7:30pm, rotating off days plus on call.

Summary:

The PACU Staff Nurse is a professional nurse who, with minimal supervision, assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for patients/families in the post anesthesia phase of care.

Other information:

Must be able to use medical equipment, patient records, reports, and computer. On Call and Call back as assigned required for this position.

Credentials with Equivalent Qualifications:

Essential:

• * Registered Nurse AL Single State or any of the following equivalent qualifications below:
• - Registered Nurse AL NLC Multi State
• - Registered Nurse Non-AL NLC Multi State
• * Basic Life Support

Education with Equivalent Qualifications:

Children’s of Alabama Benjamin Russell campus has three general PACU’s: Benjamin Russell, Minor Procedure and Imaging. Benjamin Russell recovers for 14 OR’s inpatients/outpatients and one Interventional Radiology room, Minor Procedure recovers for 7 OR rooms inpatients/outpatients, Imaging covers PreProcedure through discharge for outpatient/inpatient Imaging general anesthesia patients. Our patients include neonate to adult populations recovering from general anesthesia after a variety of surgeries including but not limited to Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, ENT, Dental, GI, GU, Ophthalmic, Pulmonary, Plastics and General. The acuity ranges from acute to critical care. Our staff are trained with the flexibility to work in all three areas and they work a variety of shifts that cover our operating time from 7am-11pm through the week as well as weekend and call back shifts.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday 9am-730pm rotating off days plus on call, Day-Evening Shift, 10-Hour Shifts
