  • Licensed RN in KS or MO or RN Multistate License is required upon hire; KS/MO multistate must be obtained within 90 days.

Overview

The Ward Family Heart Center at Children's Mercy provides nationally recognized pediatric heart care for babies, children, teens and young adults with congenital and acquired heart conditions. Our team of pediatric cardiologists, heart surgeons, nurses and specialists work together to diagnose, treat and manage even the most complex heart conditions. From routine evaluations and advanced heart procedures to pediatric heart transplant care, families throughout the Midwest trust Children's Mercy for expert, compassionate care.

Registered nurses provide illness management and health promotion for patients and families who require care. Registered staff nurses utilize the nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age appropriate nursing care for their assigned patients. Registered staff nurses provide patient and family education and advocate for their needs. Registered nurses coordinate patient care with nonprofessional personnel as necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Utilizes the nursing process to develop and implement a safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age-appropriate plan of care for the patient and family that promotes optimal patient outcomes.
  • Meets the educational needs of the patient and family and advocates for their needs.
  • Maintains an environment that is safe, comfortable, efficient, and family-centered.
  • Utilizes current research and evidence for practice to expand personal professional knowledge, enhance role performance, and improve nursing care quality.
Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree ADN Required.
    • Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role.
  • Bachelor's Degree BSN preferred for all nurses hired after September 1, 2013.
    • Nurses hired after this date without a BSN must complete their degree within 5 years of their hire date.
  • One of the following required upon hire:
    • Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas
    • Licensed RN - MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri
    • RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
      • Employees must obtain Licensed RN - KS or MO multistate within 90 days of hires
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
  • Specialty Certification relevant to unit's patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred Upon Hire

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $32.00/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
