AppFolio Inc. is hiring a Staff Machine Learning Engineer in Denver, hybrid. You will advance our ML platform, design and operate infrastructure on AWS, including ECS and SageMaker, with GPU fleets and scalable model serving.

You’ll optimize costs, maintain multi-provider LLM access (Google, OpenAI, Anthropic), and build end-to-end training and fine-tuning pipelines for LLMs. The role demands 7+ years in web app development, SaaS experience, and strong Python/Docker/CI/CD practices.

• 7+ years building and scaling web applications in SaaS environments.
• Systems thinker focused on platforms and long‑term leverage.
• Production ML infra experience delivering measurable business impact.
• Ability to operate in high ambiguity and drive clear direction.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate ML infrastructure on AWS (ECS, SageMaker, GPUs) including cost controls.
• Optimize AI application costs using routing, caching, and inference strategies.
• Maintain reliable multi-provider LLM access across Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic.
