Shield AI is seeking a highly skilled Structures/Mechanical Test Engineer to support development, testing, and validation of advanced mechanical systems. The role emphasizes hydraulic actuation, sensor integration, and NX CAD, with Python automation and data analysis driving test outcomes.

You will lead test campaigns, design fixtures, perform FEA, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure manufacturability, safety, and reliability across programs that protect service members and civilians.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in mechanical testing or product development environments.
• Strong working knowledge of hydraulic systems and their control/measurement.
• Experience selecting, integrating, and calibrating sensors in test environments.
• Proficiency in Python for scripting, test automation, and data analysis.
• Advanced CAD skills in Siemens NX for designing test hardware.
• Ability to obtain a S//SAR level security clearance desired.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans validating mechanical performance, structural integrity, and environmental durability.
• Design, build, and operate test fixtures and systems with hydraulic actuation and sensors.
• Integrate and calibrate sensors into test setups for accurate data collection.
• Create Python scripts for automation, signal processing, and visualization of results.
• Analyze test data, troubleshoot, and deliver detailed technical reports with design feedback.
• Collaborate with mechanical, systems, and electrical engineering to define test requirements.
• Lead CAD design of custom test equipment, fixtures, and components.
• Perform Finite Element Analysis to validate designs against test data.
• Work with metallic/composite materials considering anisotropy and layup configuration.
• Support lab safety protocols and ongoing improvement of test capabilities.
