Job summary

Foundation is building humanoid robotics capable of operating in rugged environments. We seek an experienced engineer to own the hardware of the humanoid platform, guiding performance, cost, production, and reliability decisions.

You will work across actuators, power, electronics, structures, and harnessing, coordinating with AI, software, manufacturing and electrical teams to deliver integrated systems. Leadership and mentoring are essential to shape our mechanical discipline.

Qualifications

• 8+ years experience in robotics, automation, aerospace, or similar design spaces.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Proven track record designing for mass manufacturing and scaling suppliers to volume.
• Expert in CAD and proficient in CAE tools like FEA, CFD, thermal analysis.
• Motivated to coach peers and juniors through engineering practices and drive technical decisions.
• Experience with GD&T and tolerance analysis for high-precision assemblies and high-volume manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a core owner of the hardware for our humanoid platform.
• Drive key technical decisions regarding performance, cost, production, and reliability.
• Oversee all humanoid hardware including actuators, battery, embedded electronics, structures, and harnessing.
• Collaborate with AI, software, manufacturing, and electrical teams to deliver tightly integrated hardware.
• Mentor engineers and help establish the mechanical engineering discipline for future humanoid robotics.

• Excited to implement continual improvements for various metrics like cost, mass, performance supporting production.

Salary

• The annual compensation is expected to be between $180,000 - $300,000. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
