Job description

At WHOOP, we’re on a mission to unlock human performance. As a member of the Mechanical Engineering NPI team, you’ll help shape the future of wearable technology by developing innovative, high-performance products that integrate seamlessly into users’ lives.

WHOOP operates with urgency because our mission demands it. We build products for people who push their limits—and we hold ourselves to the same standard. We expect engineers to go deep technically, collaborate relentlessly, and take pride in execution. The pace is fast, expectations are high, and the work is deeply meaningful. This isn’t a role where you follow a blueprint. If you’re energized by complex challenges, cross-functional collaboration, and the opportunity to ship hardware at scale, this role will push you—and reward you.

WHOOP is looking for a Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead critical design, validation, and development execution for next generation biometric wearable products. You are a proactive, highly organized engineer with strong problem-solving skills and a sharp eye for detail. You thrive in a fast-paced, execution-driven setting and can drive creative mechanical design solutions with independence and sound technical judgement. You will mentor junior mechanical engineers and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (Electrical Engineering, Embedded Engineering, Manufacturing, Product, and Program Management). You will work closely with our suppliers and contract manufacturers around the world to execute engineering validation builds with a focus on high quality deliverables, sharp engineering risk management, clear technical communication upwards and externally, and commitment to product excellence. • Lead mechanical design, analysis and development of mechanical components around micro-electronics, exact industrial design specifications, product requirements, and manufacturing constraints.

  • Create parametric multi-body SolidWorks CAD models to bring up design concepts that enable simulation exercises, prototyping, and mass production qualification

  • Generate technical documentation such as 3D files, 2D drawings, bills of material (BOM’s), and Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) following product development cycle timeline

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively across functional teams and external suppliers to align requirements, drive decisions, and resolve issues quickly

  • Drive organized, end-to-end DFM coordination across multiple vendors and manufacturing methods, aligning requirements, timelines, and technical decisions to deliver scalable, high-yield production.

  • Design testing protocols and validation plans, manage testing processes to ensure comprehensive verification and validation (V&V) of mechanical designs.
