Job summary

Luna Health in San Diego is seeking a Staff/Principal Mechanical Engineer to own the hardware system integration from concept through verification and volume manufacturing. You will coordinate mechanical, electrical, and industrial design to deliver a safe, manufacturable product.

With 8+ years in mechanical product design, you will lead risk analysis, tolerance-driven design decisions, and close collaboration with regulatory and quality teams while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
• 8+ years of mechanical product design experience, including medical devices or safety‑critical systems.
• Track record of taking a product from design through verification into volume manufacturing with manufacturability as an early design instinct.

Responsibilities

• System integration and design: central integrator for hardware system across mechanisms, electronics, and packaging.
• Cross-functional partnership with industrial design, regulatory, and manufacturing teams to deliver a user‑centered product.
• Leadership and execution: independently gather requirements, manage projects and budgets, mentor junior engineers.
