Shield AI is seeking a Staff Loads Engineer to lead aeroelastic analysis and loads derivation for next-generation air vehicles. You will own load envelopes, coordinate with GNC, aero, and structural teams, and develop validated models using FEMAP, NASTRAN, MATLAB, and Python/Simulink.

This is a hands-on, cross-functional role with emphasis on traceability and flight-test readiness. The ideal candidate has 8+ years in loads/aeroelastic analysis, strong documentation, and experience supporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
• 8+ years of loads/aeroelastic analysis experience on aircraft
• Proficiency with FEMAP, NASTRAN, MATLAB, Python/Simulink applications
• Strong understanding of flight envelopes and load paths
• Experience supporting design and test phases with accurate load predictions
• Excellent documentation and cross-functional communication skills

Responsibilities

• Own development of aerodynamic and structural load envelopes for full vehicle
• Lead maneuver, gust, landing, and ground loads analyses (quasi-static & dynamic)
• Coordinate with GNC, aero, and structural teams on load cases tied to mission profiles
• Develop and validate loads models using FEMAP/NASTRAN/MATLAB/Python
• Support sizing and analysis of critical structural components with load maps and V-n diagrams
• Conduct aeroelastic stability assessments including divergence checks
• Ensure traceability of loads inputs/outputs across ICDs, FEAs, and design docs
• Interface with test engineering for strain gauge placement and data correlation
• Author and present loads documentation for reviews and compliance
• Lead long-term refinement of loads methodologies and automation
