Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a senior IT Automation Engineer to drive large-scale automation across enterprise IT, including IAM, data platforms, and governance controls. The role emphasizes secure, scalable automation across cloud providers (GCP/AWS/Azure) with compliant frameworks and vendor integration.

You will mentor engineers, establish best practices, and own deployment lifecycles for critical systems while partnering with IT and Security leadership to enforce standards.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in IT Engineering, IT Apps Development, or DevOps.
• At least 5 years dedicated to large-scale enterprise automation.
• Hands-on experience automating complex operations and governance across GCP, AWS, and/or Azure.
• Infrastructure as Code, Terraform.
• Proficient in Python; REST/GraphQL APIs.
• SQL querying and relational DB management.
• Experience designing centralized automation platforms (n8n, SOAR, Ansible, Workato).
• Experience in regulated industries (healthcare or finance).
• Exposure to SOC 2, HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end deployment and lifecycle management of business-critical systems and custom applications.
• Architect and enforce automation standards for HIPAA-compliant and SOC 2-audited environments.
• Lead engineering best practices, code reviews, documentation, and mentoring.
• Collaborate with IT leadership, Security leadership, and department heads.
• Evaluate vendors and manage implementation, integration, and ongoing support.

Job description

• Drive efficiency and scale across the corporate IT infrastructure and enterprise ecosystem
• Design, build, and maintain mission-critical automation solutions
• Streamline onboarding/offboarding, access requests, compliance enforcement, and self-service IT support
• Build robust, fault-tolerant integrations using APIs and event-driven architectures
• Automate IAM, including role assignment, least-privilege policy enforcement, and audit-friendly authentication and authorization logging
• Architect and engineer IT data platforms for collection, normalization, secure storage, reporting, audit, and advanced analytics
• Establish engineering best practices, lead code reviews, document architectures, and mentor engineers
• Own end-to-end deployment and lifecycle management of business-critical systems and custom applications
• Evaluate vendors and manage implementation, integration, and ongoing support
• Work directly with IT leadership, Security leadership, and department heads
• Architect and enforce automation standards for HIPAA-compliant and SOC 2-audited environments

Requirements

• 10+ years in IT Engineering, IT Apps Development, or DevOps
• At least 5 years dedicated to large-scale enterprise automation
• Deep hands-on experience automating complex operations and governance across GCP, AWS, and/or Azure
• Ability to build and modularize infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code, such as Terraform
• Highly proficient in at least one modern programming language; strong preference for Python
• Proven experience with REST/GraphQL APIs
• Experience querying and managing relational databases; SQL strongly preferred
• Extensive experience designing and managing centralized automation platforms, such as n8n, SOAR, Ansible, Workato, or custom frameworks
• Experience operating in regulated industries such as healthcare or finance
• Exposure to SOC 2, HIPAA, or equivalent compliance frameworks
• Ability to communicate effectively across engineers, GTM stakeholders, individual contributors, and executives
• Experience with agentic AI or ML models applied to IT automation is a bonus
