Our client is a well funded, rapidly scaling technology company building a mobile platform used by a large and growing global user base. The team is small, highly technical, and moves quickly, with engineers owning major product areas from concept through launch. They are hiring a Staff iOS Engineer to set the technical direction for their iOS experience, raise the bar on architecture and code quality, and serve as the go to iOS authority across engineering. This is a high impact, hands on role for someone who wants real ownership and a direct line to product and leadership decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Own the architecture and long term technical direction of the iOS application
  • Design, build, and ship major features in Swift, from initial design through App Store release
  • Lead the adoption and evolution of modern iOS practices, including SwiftUI, Swift Concurrency, and Combine
  • Drive improvements in app performance, stability, launch time, memory usage, and battery efficiency
  • Establish standards for code quality, testing, modularization, and release processes
  • Partner closely with product, design, and backend engineering to define APIs and shape the product roadmap
  • Mentor and level up other engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and technical guidance
  • Improve CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and crash and performance monitoring for the mobile platform
  • Identify technical debt and lead initiatives that improve scalability and developer velocity
Requirements
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant time focused on native iOS development
  • Expert level proficiency in Swift (required)
  • Experience operating at a Staff or Senior Staff level, or as the technical lead for a production iOS app
  • Deep knowledge of UIKit and SwiftUI, and when to use each
  • Strong command of Swift Concurrency (async/await, actors), Combine, and multithreading with GCD
  • Track record of shipping and maintaining consumer facing apps at scale on the App Store
  • Experience with REST and GraphQL APIs, offline data persistence (Core Data or SwiftData), and Xcode Instruments for profiling
  • Strong testing discipline, including unit, integration, and UI testing with XCTest
  • Comfortable in a fast paced, high ownership startup environment with minimal process
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence technical decisions across teams
  • Experience with Android, Kotlin, or Kotlin Multiplatform is a plus
