Job summary

Coinbase is seeking an Infrastructure Lead for the Exchange team to own the infrastructure, deployment, and operational tooling behind a unified trading platform across cloud and on-prem environments.

You will drive reliability, observability, and incident response for 24/7 systems, and set standards to reduce single points of failure while mentoring engineers and partnering with cross-functional teams to turn platform needs into a roadmap.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of infrastructure, platform, or SRE engineering with ownership of production systems at scale.
• Experience running infrastructure for latency-sensitive trading environments, including on-prem/colocated deployments.
• Proficiency with orchestration tooling, containerized and baremetal deployments, and observability/logging tooling.
• Strong Linux performance and networking fundamentals in latency-critical environments.
• Experience delivering end-to-end: scoping, implementation, deploy safety, monitoring, and incident response.
• Experience in a regulated or financial environment with reliability and low-latency requirements.
• Ability to responsibly apply generative AI with human oversight to improve workflows.

Coinbase is building the future of institutional trading as part of the Institutional Everything Exchange, powering the systems that let the world's largest financial institutions trade across markets with speed, depth, and trust. As an Infrastructure Lead on the Exchange team, you'll own the infrastructure, deployment, and operational tooling behind a unified trading platform that runs across cloud and on-prem/colocated venues, keeping latency-sensitive, multi-node trading environments fast, reliable, and easy to build on. What you’ll do:

• Own infrastructure, deployment, and operational tooling for latency-sensitive, multi-node trading environments across cloud and on-prem.
• Drive reliability and developer velocity, owning observability, deploy safety, and incident response for systems that run 24/7.

Required skills and experience:

• 8+ years of infrastructure, platform, or SRE engineering, with demonstrated ownership of production systems at scale.
• Track record running infrastructure for latency-sensitive trading environments, including on-prem/colocated deployments, not generic platform work.
• Deep proficiency with orchestration tooling, containerized and baremetal deployments, and observability/logging tooling.
• Strong Linux performance and networking fundamentals in latency-critical environments.
• Experience delivering end-to-end: scoping, implementation, deploy safety, monitoring, and incident response.
• Experience in a regulated or financial environment where reliability and low-latency performance are critical.
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Pay Transparency Notice:Base salary varies by location (see range below). Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).

Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus):

$218,025 — $256,500 USD
