Job summary

Kong is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to architect Kong Identity’s multi-tenant platform, enabling secure, scalable token management and enterprise-grade security controls. You will lead the design of advanced token systems, claims engine, and federation capabilities while guiding developer experiences through SDKs and observability tooling.

Lead initiatives across edge deployments, cross-region replication, and privacy-preserving token designs in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years building production identity platforms
• Deep expertise in OAuth 2.0 extensions and OpenID Connect
• Proven experience architecting multi-tenant identity platforms
• Strong cryptographic protocol knowledge including JWTs and key rotation
• Experience with analytics, monitoring, and security event detection at scale
• Knowledge of edge deployment, geo-distributed token validation, and cross-region data consistency
• Experience with SAML federation, LDAP/AD bridges, and SCIM provisioning
• Proven ability to lead initiatives in regulated environments with security focus

Responsibilities

• Design and implement advanced token management systems with real-time revocation
• Lead development of extensible claims engine with dynamic attribute resolution
• Architect global identity infrastructure with sub-millisecond latency
• Design rate limiting, anomaly detection, and fraud prevention systems
• Build enterprise identity federation and protocol adapters for legacy systems
• Lead technical strategy for developer experience including SDKs and webhooks
• Architect client management systems with dynamic registration and rotation
• Develop plugin architecture for custom grant flows and extensions
• Drive compliance implementations (SOC 2, GDPR, FedRAMP) with audit trails
• Lead integration with observability platforms for tracing and metrics
• Mentor teams on zero-trust and workload identity concepts
