Job summary

Google is seeking a Staff Hardware Systems Engineer, Watches, to lead end-to-end hardware integration for next-gen Pixel Watch products. You will anchor electrical architecture, optimize form factor, and work across electrical, mechanical, RF, sensors, and display teams to deliver high-performance, compact devices with excellent thermal and power efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in EE/CE/Physics or related field.
  • Minimum 6 years in consumer electronics technical environment.
  • Minimum 3 years in technical leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end electrical architecture for space-constrained devices using SIP and rigid-flex packaging.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, RF, sensors, and display teams to resolve layout issues.
  • Balance size, performance, cost, and thermals to enable mass production.
  • Guide NTIs to integrate novel hardware components into final design.
  • Oversee rapid prototyping and validation for manufacturability at scale.

  • Drive end-to-end electrical architecture for space‑constrained devices, leveraging advanced packaging technologies like System in Package (SIP) and rigid‑flex to maximize density and minimize Z-height.
  • Act as the technical linchpin, collaborating with mechanical, Radio Frequency (RF), sensors, and display teams to resolve physical layout collisions and foster architectural convergence.
  • Lead data‑driven trade‑offs balancing size, performance, cost, and thermals to keep development moving while optimizing SoC integration for power and thermal efficiency.
  • Guide New Technology Introductions (NTI) to integrate novel, market‑differentiating hardware components into the final product design.
  • Ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) by overseeing rapid prototyping and validation of early‑stage systems, ensuring compact architectures can be reliably scaled for mass production.
