Job summary

Lanteris Space LLC seeks a Staff GNC Engineer in Palo Alto, CA to design, analyze, and test spacecraft GNC algorithms and orbital analyses. You will develop flight software components, create MATLAB/Simulink models, and generate technical documentation for review across teams.

You will perform HITL testing, model sensors and actuators, and collaborate with Flight Software and Systems Engineering to drive robust GNC solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Space Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 5 years of related industry experience in spacecraft GNC systems; PhD may count for 2 years.
• Strong understanding of GNC principles and orbital mechanics.
• Experience with full lifecycle GNC development.

Responsibilities

Lanteris Space LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Intuitive Machines, is seeking a Staff Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) Engineer to support our GNC 300 product line in Palo Alto, CA. In this role, you will independently design, analyze, and test GNC algorithms and orbital analysis for various spacecraft missions . Intuitive Machines is a leading space infrastructure company that builds spacecraft, connects networks, and operates infrastructure-as-a-service for commercial, civil, and national security customers. With a proven track record across the space domain, the Company, through organic growth and portfolio expansion, has built over 300 spacecraft, delivered over 260 kilograms of payload to the lunar surface, and provided precision navigation expertise that has guided spacecraft across our solar system. **Responsibilities:***Technical Analysis & Support:** Independently perform analysis of spacecraft attitude control system performance* Conduct simulation and modeling of GNC algorithms* Analyze telemetry data from on-orbit spacecraft*Design & Development:** Develop GNC flight software components* Create and validate MATLAB/Simulink models* Generate technical documentation and analysis reports* Develop test scripts and automation tools* Contribute to architectural and design decisions*Testing & Validation:** Perform GNC hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) testing activities* Develop sensor models (gyroscopes, star trackers, magnetometers, etc.)* Develop actuator models (reaction wheels, CMGs, magnetic torque rods, thrusters)* Prepare test procedures and data analysis scripts* Document test results and investigate anomalies*Collaboration & Mentorship:** Participate in design reviews and team meetings* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Flight Software, Systems Engineering, etc.)* Present findings to engineering teams* Mentor junior engineers**Minimum Requirements:*** Must be a U.S. citizen* Bachelor's degree in Aerospace (Space), Astronautics, Mechanical (Dynamics), Electrical (Controls), Physics (Astrodynamics, Orbits), Applied Math or related field (Master's preferred)* 5 years of related industry experience in spacecraft GNC systems, Master's degree may count for 2 years of experience. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.● The base pay for this position within California is: $117,000.00 - $195,000.00 annually.For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
