NBCUniversal is seeking a GIS data Engineer to drive geospatial data and tooling for large-scale AI/ML applications. You will join a team of GIS engineers responsible for sourcing geospatial data across modalities and building automation and tooling for AI/ML pipelines.
You will gather data from imagery, vector data, and point clouds, manage coverage and freshness, and collaborate with AI/ML and product teams to roll out data for new regions.

In this role,you’llresearch andgather datafor specific regionsfromdifferent sources, including imagery and other raster data, vector data, and point clouds. You will find andacquiredata from free/public domain sources, as well as form and drivepartnerships with commercial data providers. You willbe responsible voor managingthe coverage, freshness, quality, and costof the sourced data.The most successfulteam memberswill have a working knowledge ofdisparate effective sources of data, and a curiosity for finding new ones.
To prepare this datafor AI/ML use,you’llbuild anduseautomatedtools (e.g.,incorporatingopen sourcelibraries likeGDAL andin-housetools) to clean, resize,reformat,and align it soit’sready forinternal customersto use.You will alsobe responsible fortooling to automatically postprocess the output of a geospatial AI/ML pipeline for use by other teams.
This role involves working closely with different teams in our organization.You’llpartner with the AI/ML teams to supply diverse data they need for building new machine learning models, and with the Pipeline and Product teams to ensure they have the necessary datarequired.
